Medical practitioners struggle every day with the insurance claim subject. If it was for them they would not accept insurance at all but it seems to be a sign of the times that everybody has or has to have medical insurance coverage to be able to access to a decent medical service.
In the case of those who accept them, they have few options for submitting them, paper (and I have seen doctors desks with piles of CM 1500 forms to submit, review, rejected, denied, you mention it) so the first thing they do is look for a software that can submit claims electronically, the fast solution, then they want appointment scheduling then billing, then merchant services, etc. They usually end up with 3 or more programs to do the task in the office, in which case, records are not linked at all between them.
Other professionals search for solutions that are already known and they end up paying $300 a month yes, a MONTH for something that is not exactly what they need and the result of that is 90% of that solution is not used at all because they are designed with a hospital in mind and chances are they still use their phones to send text messages to patients.
Back to accepting insurance. Other practitioners simply choose to not to accept them at all but their patients want the CMS1500 anyways to claim it themselves and I personally think it is the most practical solution though it limits the audience to those able to pay cash and take care of their claims, to a very reduced amount of people.
Then of course, there's Docta which can send the claims electronically and print the CM1500 at the same time making it the only program you need in your computer to run the entire office without the need of another one .
